Specializing in:
• Shaft Mounted Speed Reducers
• Screw Conveyor Drives
• Ratio's to 250:1 "C" Face Input

40:1 Ratio
Three ratios, 30:1, 35:1 and 40:1 are new and available only from Dorris. They allow for better, less expensive drive options such as lower cost motors and smaller sheaves.

Narrow Design
The Dorris TR design has a narrow "thru-the-bore" dimension, a bushing design that mounts from the open side, thereby requiring less room on the driven shaft versus the competition.

TR/TL FEATURES & BENEFITS

Higher Ratios

  • Up to 40:1 for 107-315
  • Up to 250:1 for 407-507

Allows more ratio within the gear drive where power density is optimal

  • Reduces sheave sizes, belt length, beltguard size--allows for smaller motors
  • Provides smaller, less expensive packages

TR/TL OPTIONS & ACCESSORIES

C-Face Motor
Mounting

The gear drive can be ordered
from the factory to adapt a c-face
motor. The required flexible
coupling is available from Dorris.

Maximum motor frame size is
256TC up to size 315, and from
326TC up to size 507.

FEATURE FUNCTION BENEFIT
Higher ratios
Up to 40:1 on 107-315
Up to 250:1 on 407-608
Up to 10,000:1 on compound gear drives
Allows more ratio within the gear drive where power density is optimal Reduces sheave sizes, belt length, belt-guard
size and in some cases allows smaller motors
(1750 rpm vs. 1150 rpm)
Provides smaller, less expensive packages
CAace Directly couples motor to gear drive via flexible coupling Simplifies drive package
Less maintenance
Less downtime
Reduces overall drive size
More efficient
Uses standard motors
Tapered bushings mount from the front Allows drives to mount closer to support bearing and makes mounting/dismounting easily accessible Requires less shaft for support
Reduces overhung loads
Easier to install and remove
Avoids twin tapered bushing grip problems
Avoids "spinning" problems of keyless
bushing systems
Mechanical rating (Up to 25% higher) Establishes drive size Provides additional service margin and/or gives smaller overall package Lower maintenance cost or lower initial investment
Narrow design Uses less driven shaft length Allows replacement of all competitive units
(including straight bore) in field
Lower overhung load on bearing
Thermal rating
(30 - 70% higher)
Provides cool operating temperatures, prevents oil breakdown and premature gear or bearing failure Requires no fans or expensive lube systems
Longer life
Timken tapered roller beanngs throughout Provides rigid support for gears and shafting Higher bearing life
Greater thrust load capacity

Quick Release
The quick release tapered bushing is easier to install and remove than any comparable bushing system, because the flexible sleeve and threaded collar grip the driven shaft, thereby avoiding common welding, binding and corrosion problems.

Two Year 4,000 Hour Warranty
The adherence to strict AGMA standards, as well as manufacturing excellence allow Dorris to offer the best shaft mount warranty in the field of two years/4,000 hours.

Motor Mounts
Only 3 sizes are necessary for 7 models; 107-315.

Screw Conveyor Drive
The TR series shaft mounted gear drive can be easily converted to a TL series screw conveyor drive that can adapt to either Dorris or CEMA trough ends.

Provision for face mounting.

Spring loaded dual lip oil seals, universally available.
No special seals.

25,000 hour minimum average bearing life at full rated capacity.

Precision-tapered roller bearings, unsurpassed in the industry.

Rigid 2-piece housing pinned for alignment.

Exclusive sealant groove keeps housings oil tight.

Carburized gearing to stringent heat treat specifications.

Computer optimized gear design conforming to latest AGMA standards.

Shaft extension for external backstop.

Torque arm centrally located with multiple locations for most efficient installation.

Higher HP ratings allow replacement of any comparable gearbox in the field.

Tapered Bushings

The quick release tapered bushing minimizes costly maintenance and downtime.
