Founded
in 1897, mayr has both a long and illustrious history in the power transmission
industry. Our current line of products, which include friction type torque limiters,
ball-detent torque and force limiters, torsionally rigid couplings, and electromagnetic

manufacturers of power transmission components in the world today.
What mayr offers you
Developing long lasting
relationships with our customers is also an important part of the mayr philosophy.
From initially consulting on their application requirements, to assisting in the selection
process, just in time delivery and excellent after sales service, mayr is committed
to customer satisfaction. This goes hand in hand with our commitment to quality. Every
employee, from upper management down, is personally involved in quality control. All of
the products developed and produced by mayr are also subjected to extensive
in-house testing to assure that the performance of all of our products exceeds the
capacities and technical limits shown in our catalogues.
Using the latest manufacturing technology and equipment enables mayr to produce not
only the highest quality products, but also cost effective solutions to our customers
problems, whether with one of our standard products, or a custom design for their
particular application. Further, to assure our customers on time delivery, mayr
utilizes a state of the art computer controlled warehousing facility at our headquarters
in Germany, with stocking and distribution centers throughout the world.
Extensive research and development, along with an excellent working relationship with our
customers, listening to their current problems and designing products to meet their future
needs, has enabled mayr to maintain our technological leadership in the power
transmission industry.
Solving problems in your industry
Whatever the industry or
application, mayr can offer not only a wide variety of power transmission products,
but also the engineering expertise to assist in the design of your drive system.
Packaging, food processing, automatic assembly equipment, and etc., all of these
industries offer numerous applications for mayr's power transmission products.
Especially now, with this type of machinery becoming more flexible, efficient and
automated, reliability is essential, and considering the substantial investments required
by their users, downtime simply cannot be tolerated. In this highly competitive market, mayr
supplies many unique and versatile power transmission components and has established many
long lasting relationships with satisfied customers worldwide.
Crashes in machine tools cost, on average, $12,000.00, and due to the human factor can
never be completely avoided. Therefore, the only solution is to minimize the damage which
occurs during a crash. mayr has developed a patented overload clutch that can
disengage up to 90% of the damaging energy. This allows the machine tool manufacturer to
produce a more reliable machine, requiring less maintenance and service, and the machine
tool user to purchase a machine which will increase his productivity.
In a printing press, accurate registration and long lasting quality depend, to a great
extent, on the rigidity of the drive components. mayr backlash free, torsionally
rigid couplings have proven their performance and reliability even after years of use. A
fact that has established the mayr reputation for quality products with printing
press manufacturers all over the world, and has led to the development of several other mayr
products currently in use in this industry.
Mechanical torque limiting clutches
 |
EAS®
mayr EAS® mechanical torque limiting clutches provide accurate, reliable overload
protection for all types of machinery and equipment. With proven performance in thousands
of different applications these versatile units are available in single or multiple
positions, free wheeling and torque sensing models. EAS clutches also feature either
manual or automatic re-engagement, and an unique method for setting the overload torque
which makes adjustment both accurate and easy. With torque capacities up to 1,680,000
in-lbs. bores from 3/8 in. to 12 in. and the industries widest variety of mounting
arrangements, EAS clutches can easily be adapted to meet your overload protection
requirements. |

EAS®-NC
The mayr EAS®-NC is the state of the art in mechanical torque limiting clutches.
Featuring a patented system for backlash free torque transmission, and instantaneous
disengagement, the EAS-NC is ideally suited for those applications where positioning
accuracy is critical, such as on machine tool feed drives. The EAS-NC is available in ten
sizes, with torque capacities from 4.4 in.-lbs. to 21240 in.-lbs. and bores from 1/4 in.
to 3 in. |
 |
EAS®-Sm
/ EAS®-Sp
Today's requirements for manufacturing flexibility and increasing automation demand
innovative and sophisticated power transmission components. The EAS®-Sp and EAS®-Sm are
torque limiters that can take over other functions than pure preset torque limiting. As
the disengaging torque of the units is controlled by air (EAS-Sp) or electromagnetic
(EAS-Sm) the torque setting can be altered remotely, even while the equipment is
operating. This is done simply by adjusting the voltage or air pressure to the clutch. In addition both types offer the function of
an ON/OFF clutch with either single or multiple re-engagement. A control unit is available
for both units, which can be interfaced with even most sophisticated control systems. The
EAS-Sp/Sm units are available with torque capacities from 53 to 22144 in.-lbs. |
 |
Mechanical force limiters
 |
EAS®-axial
Torque limiting clutches alone cannot satisfy all of the requirements for overload
protection. For those systems involving linear motion, the mayr EAS®-axial
overload element limits axial forces. Acting as a rigid connection in normal operation,
the EAS-axial overload element transmits tensile and compressive forces without backlash
or play. However, once the infinitely adjustable overload force has been exceeded, the
EAS-axial overload element disengages. Re-engagement is automatic, at the point of
disengagement. The EAS-axial overload element is available in eight sizes, with capacities
from 17 lbs. to 67,500 lbs. |
All steel torsionally rigid
couplings
 |
ROBA®-D
mayr ROBA®-D all steel flexible disk couplings have proven their value and
reliability in the most demanding applications. Featuring unitized disk packs,
exceptionally high torsional rigidities and torque capacities to 529,000 in-lbs., ROBA-D
couplings compensate for parallel, angular and axial misalignments between shafts.
Maintenance-free, with hubs, coupling sleeves and flanges made from the highest quality
steel forgings, ROBA-D couplings are suitable for high speed applications and temperatures
up to 480° F.
ROBA-D couplings are also available with special length spacer sleeves for use as floating
shaft couplings, and can be provided with hubs mounted using Q.D or taper lock bushings,
or frictional locking devices. |
 |
ROBA®-DX
The increasing number of applications utilizing servo drives has necessitated the
development of a low inertia, torsionally rigid flexible coupling. The mayr ROMA
-DX coupling fills these requirements. Utilizing an all steel bellows section to
compensate for parallel, angular and axial misalignments between shafts, the ROBA-DX
features integral frictional locking devices for a backlash free shaft/hub connection.
The ROBA-DX is available in six sizes, with torque capacities to 5310 in.-lbs. and bores
from 3/8 in. to 2 in. |
Backlash free elastomeric couplings
 |
ROBA®-ES
The ROBA®-ES backlash free, elastomeric coupling compliments mayr's range of
couplings for servo drive and backlash sensitive applications. This new concept provides
an easy to assemble coupling that utilizes a special elastomeric element which eliminates
many of the vibration problems encountered in today's servo systems. ROBA®-ES couplings
also provide torsional rigidities high enough to meet most accuracy requirements, even
though torque is transmitted through an elastomeric element.
The ROBA®-ES is available in five sizes, with torque capacities to 3982 in-lbs. and bores
from 1/4 in. to 1-3/4 in. |
Friction type torque limiters
 |
ROBA®
slip hub
The mayr ROBA® slip hub is a friction type torque limiter providing low cost,
reliable overload protection. Utilizing high quality friction material and the same easy
and accurate method for setting overload torque as on our EAS® clutches, the ROBA slip
hub offers both long service life and trouble free operation.
With torque capacities up to 442,535 ft.-lbs., bores from 3/8 in. to 7 in., and the
industries widest variety of configurations, the ROBA slip hub can be used with single and
multiple chain sprockets, V-belt pulleys, timing belt pulleys, gears, and etc. |
Other mayr products
 |
